Men’s Basketball Rallies to Defeat Delhi

Hudson Valley Community College, ranked No. 1 in the latest NJCAA Division III men’s basketball poll, rallied from a five-point halftime deficit to defeat SUNY Delhi 86-74 at Delhi Tuesday evening.

For just the second time this season, the Vikings found themselves trailing at halftime, 33-28, after Delhi limited the high-scoring Vikings to their lowest first half total of the season.

Sophomore forward Datwan Hemingway (Albany/CBA) posted his 12th double-double of the season with 27 points and 17 rebounds. Sophomore guard Emanuel Mayben (Troy/Troy High School) continued to fill up the stat sheet with 23 points, nine assists, eight steals and six rebounds. Sophomore guard Derick Faragon (Schenectady/Schenectady High School) contributed 17 points and eight boards.

Delhi (74): Daniel Perry 2-2-6, Dressel Cumberbatch 10-4-27, Gerald Soriano 4-2-10, Brently Pearson 4-2-11, Tunde Bello 3-0-6, Rashawn McCarthy 6-0-14, Totals: 29-10-74.

Three-point goals: Hudson Valley 4 (Luce 2, Gallo, Mayben); Delhi 6 (Cumberbatch 3, Pearson, McCarthy 2).

Halftime: Delhi led 33-28.
