Men’s Basketball Defeats Adirondack

Sophomore center Kevin Goutos (Altamont/Guilderland High School) finished with 23 points, six rebounds and three blocks to lead the Hudson Valley Community College (15-6/9-6 Region III) men’s basketball team to an 81-65 win at Adirondack Community College (9-11/6-11) on Tuesday.

Three Hudson Valley players reached the 20-point plateau. Freshman Justin Gallo (Brunswick/Lansingburgh High School) hit four three-point baskets en route to 22 points. Sophomore Maurice Lane (Bakersfield, CA/West High School) had 20 points and five boards.

Hudson Valley, which leads all NJCAA Division III schools with 193 three-point baskets, hit 10-of-16 shots from behind the line.


Hudson Valley (81): Justin Gallo 9-0-22, Ryne Luce 1-2-5, Maurice Lane 8-1-20, Zach Bye 2-2-6, Corey Harkins 2-0-5, Kevin Goutos 8-6-23, Totals: 30-11-81.

Adirondack (65): White 9-5-26, Ventre 2-1-5, Darfler 5-0-14, Robertson 2-1-6, Trottier 3-0-7, Calderon 3-0-7, Totals: 24-7-65.

Three-point goals: Hudson Valley (Gallo 4, Luce, Lane 3, Harkins, Goutos); Adirondack 10 (White 3, Darfler 4, Robertson, Trottier, Calderon).

Halftime: Hudson Valley led 33-31.
