Perren Scores 21; Hudson Valley Hits 16 Treys

Troy, February 3 – Hudson Valley Community College big man Thomas Perren (Brotmanville, NJ) had his way in the paint against Herkimer County Community College's men's basketball team this afternoon, and the remainder of Hudson Valley's roster roamed the 3-point arc, pulling the trigger at will.

Hudson Valley's inside-out game proved too much for Herkimer at Troy's McDonough Complex. After a Herkimer basket kicked off the Mountain Valley Conference matchup, Hudson Valley's Jeremy Schneible (Greenwich) responded with a trey. The Vikings, en route to a comfortable 92-55 victory, never trailed again.

Behind Perren's 21-point, 11-rebound effort, and sixteen Hudson Valley 3-pointers, the Vikings improved to 14-5 on the season. The loss dropped Herkimer, missing several starters, to 8-14.

Perren, a 6-foot-5 second-year center, tallied 12 points, eight rebounds and three blocks in the first half. With Hudson Valley claiming a 45-24 halftime lead, and Vikings head coach Vince Medici rotating players off the bench, Perren sat out much of the second 20 minutes.

Hudson Valley, ranked second among NJCAA Division III Region III teams, controlled the game even when Perren was resting, though.

Kurt Bush (Newcomb-Minerva) drilled four 3-pointers and finished with 15 points. He also had four assists. Joseph Bell (Albany) thrilled the home crowd and his teammates by connecting on four consecutive long-range bombs in a two-minute-and-14-second span late in the second half.

Jason McKinney (South Glens Falls), meanwhile, mixed his up styles, playing underneath and away from the basket. The freshman forward finished with 15 points, including three 3-pointers. He also had 10 rebounds. Guards Kyle Miller (Columbia) and Paul Bowe (Hudson Falls) each had six assists. Adam Vooris (Columbia) contributed seven rebounds.

Hudson Valley forward R.J. Mann (Canajoharie) was not in uniform due to an injury. Every active player on Hudson Valley's roster scored.
