The Hudson Valley Community College (7-5) men's basketball team had the ball at half court with four seconds remaining but a last second three point attempt bounced off the rim and out as Hudson Valley fell to SUNY Delhi, 57-55, earlier tonight in Troy. Delhi (15-1) entered the game ranked third in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association Division III poll.

The Vikings controlled the paint as the Hudson Valley post players outscored Delhi's forwards 34-18. Freshman center Bill Heslin (Schaghticoke/Hoosic Valley High School) led the way for Hudson Valley, finishing with 19 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Freshman forward Allan Dickson (Troy/Troy High School) contributed 11 points, eight boards and three blocks.

Sophomore guard Aaron Williams (New Rochelle/New Rochelle High School) led Delhi with a game-high 24 points. Sophomore guard Rashawn Vaughn (New York/All Hollow High School) added 11 points.

The game was a back and forth affair as neither team led by more than six points in the second half. Hudson Valley held a 45-43 advantage with 8:54 remaining before the Broncos went on a 10-2 run to take a six point lead, 53-47, with 5:34 left.

A pair of free throws by Heslin and freshman guard Justin Smith (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) brought Hudson Valley to within a bucket, but Williams netted a basket and a free throw over the final two minutes that gave the visitors a five point lead that the Vikings could not overcome.

Hudson Valley will travel to Morrisville on Saturday, January 18. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
