The recently awarded 2010 Mountain Valley Conference Lacrosse Champions, Hudson Valley Community College (8-5), had one last tune-up against Cayuga Community College on Sunday, April 25 before heading into post-season play. The Vikings cruised in their final regular-season game, winning 13-4.

Hudson Valley came out flat in the opening quarter but managed to strike first in the scoring column, going up 2-0. It was a lackluster quarter, ending with the Vikings leading only 2-1. The rest of the half was played with the same lack of intensity on the overcast Sunday afternoon, with the Vikings up 7-2 at the halftime break.

The Vikings came out with more enthusiasm in the third, as the game became much more physical. Several second-half penalties were assessed to both squads and, in the end, Hudson Valley proved to be too talented and too deep for Cayuga, walking away with the 13-4 victory.

Rich Bamberger (St. John's, Brimfield, MA) led the way once again for the Vikings with four goals and three assists. Casey Balzer (Columbia, Schodack) had four points on three goals and an assist, and Troy Martin (Werribee Secondary, Melbourne, AUS) also had four points on two goals and two assists. Goaltender Alan Hiltz (La Salle, Wynantskill) made 11 saves on 15 shots.

The Vikings now wait for seeding and their matchup in the Region III Tournament.
