Hudson Valley Lacrosse Ranked Eighth in Preseason Poll

The Hudson Valley Community College lacrosse team is ranked eighth in the Lacrosse Magazine Junior College Men’s Preseason Poll. Onondaga Community College, the two-time defending national champion, is ranked No. 1 in the poll.

After a 2-5 start a year ago, the Vikings rebounded to finish the season with a 9-7 record and advanced to the semifinals of the Region III Tournament. Hudson Valley returns three of its top five leading scorers from a year ago. Sophomore Will-Wilson Jackson (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa High School) was second on the team in scoring with 13 goals and 28 assists. Sophomore Rich Vazzana (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) had 26 goals and 10 assists and sophomore Ryan DeSalvatore (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa High School) finished with 22 goals and eight assists.

Hudson Valley opens its season Saturday, March 8 at Tompkins Cortland Community College. The Vikings first home game is Sunday, March 30 against Monroe Community College.
