Lacrosse Advances to Regional Final Four

The Hudson Valley Community College (9-6) lacrosse team advanced to the NJCAA Region III Tournament semifinals for the first time in eight years with a 12-11 win over Broome Community College in the opening round on Tuesday in Binghamton.

Hudson Valley, the tournament’s fifth seed, used a 5-1 advantage in the second period to take an 8-4 lead into the break. However, the No. 4 Hornets responded in the third quarter to take a 9-8 lead. The Vikings would not be denied though as the scored the next four goals and held on for the win.

Sophomore goaltender Ryan DeJordy (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) stopped 19 shots to earn the win in net for the Vikings.

Freshman Ryan DeSalvatore (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa High School) led Hudson Valley’s offense with four goals. Sophomores Dustin Bolduc (Queensbury/Queensbury High School) and Nick DeMarco (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa High School) added two goals apiece.

Hudson Valley will advance to meet top-seeded Onondaga Community College at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 5 in Herkimer.
