The Hudson Valley Community College (1-2) men's lacrosse team raced out to an 12-5 lead through three quarters and then held on to defeat Mercyhurst North East Junior College, 14-10, earlier today in Troy.

Freshman Adam Vandervoort (Latham/Christian Brothers Academy) led Hudson Valley with four goals and an assist. Sophomore Jon McCardle (Delmar/Bethlehem High School) and freshman Robert Casino (Schenectady/Schenectady High School) netted three goals apiece.

Mercyhurst (0-3) scored four goals during a three minute non-releasable penalty at the start of the fourth quarter to cut its deficit to 12-9. However, Hudson Valley goalie Kristofer Heller (East Schodack/Columbia High School) made five of his 14 stops in the fourth quarter to stymie the Saints attack.
