Vikings to Meet Alfred State in Region III Tournament

Hudson Valley Community College erupted for 10 second-period goals and rolled to an 18-8 victory over Jefferson Community College in lacrosse action earlier today in Troy.
Hudson Valley (8-2) has tied a school record with seven consecutive wins, and will meet Alfred State College in the opening round of the Region III tournament on Tuesday, April 27 in Alfred. The Vikings are the fifth seed in the six-team tournament and will be competing in their first regional tournament since 1999.
Sophomore Joe Whaley (Schenectady/Schenectady High School) led the Vikings with eight points. He had four goals and four assists. Sophomore Jon McCardle (Delmar/Bethlehem High School) scored a season-high five goals, and sophomore Eric DeSalvatore (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa High School) and freshman Nick Warren (Guilderland/Guilderland High School) chipped in three goals apiece.
Freshman Joe Coppola (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa High School) had 15 saves in goal for Hudson Valley.
