Ice Hockey Wins Last Home Game

The Hudson Valley Community College hockey team (12-10-2) defeated UAlbany Club 6-2 on Thursday evening.

The Vikings ended their regular season with its third victory over UAlbany Club, sweeping the Great Danes 3-0 on the season. Sean Spohr (Westfield/Westfield, MA) scored in the first few minutes of the opening period to give Hudson Valley the early lead. The Vikings would go on to score two more unanswered goals before UAlbany Club could get on the board.

Early in the third, UAlbany Club pulled within one, but Spohr would capitalize for his second goal of the game, scoring on a power-play to ignite another three-goal run.

Chris Breault (Agawam/ Agawam, MA) also scored two goals, and Tyler DeMarco (Windsor Locks/ Windsor Locks, CT) and Evan Perkins (Brattleboro Union/ Brattleboro, VT) each added a goal in the win.

Jeffrey Smith (Peru/Plattsburgh) and Nate Muller (Bellows Free Academy/ Highgate, VT) combined for 12 saves in goal in the victory.

The hockey team will participate in the NJCAA National Tournament at the SUNY Broome Ice Arena on February 24, 25 and 26.
