2012-13 Season Preview

The 2012-13 hockey team returns six players from last season. The team is young and has a lot of potential, including the wealth of talent that came in this year’s recruiting class at the forward position. The Vikings hope to get back to the National Tournament this year after a one-year hiatus.

Nick Innella (Schreiber/Port Washington) is one of the team’s top returning forwards, having recorded one goal and eight assists last season. Patrick Raike (Christian Brothers Academy/Malta) recorded two goals and four assists and Ryan Broderick (Tamarac/Troy) had two goals and two assists in the 2011-12 season for the Vikings. Matt Crescione (Carey/West Hempstead), the team’s only returning goalie, appeared in eight games last season.

William Huber (Arlington/Hopewell), James Murphy (Comsewogue/Long Island), Mike Sablesak (Syosset/Syosset) and Matt Wagner (LaSalle Institute/Clifton Park) are all incoming forwards who are expected to come in and put points on the board this year. Mike Fay (Sachem East/Long Island) and Ricky Piper (Greenwich/Greenwich, CT) are two freshmen goalies who will compete with Crescione for playing time between the pipes.
