Hudson Valley Ice Hockey Skates to First Win

The Hudson Valley Community College (1-3/1-2 Region III) skated to its first win of the season with a 5-3 victory over Broome Community College (1-3/0-3 Region III) this evening in Troy.
Despite holding a 24-2 shot advantage in the first period, Hudson Valley took only a 1-0 lead intermission. Sophomore Drew Reynolds (Troy/LaSalle Institute) gave the Vikings the lead with 8:29 remaining in the period.
After a Broome goal tied the game 4:37 into the second period, the Vikings responded to retake the lead 2-1 after two periods on a goal by freshman Sean Caruso (Waterford/LaSalle Institute).
Broome would tie the game at 2-2, 54 seconds into the third period on a goal by freshman defenseman Glenn Woodard (Newark Valley High School). However, Hudson Valley would get the next three goals by freshman Tom Phibbs (Troy/LaSalle Institute), and sophomores Steve Passineau (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) and Dane Anderson (Newburgh/Newburgh Free Academy) to secure the win.
Freshman Dan Silver (Soldotna, AK/Kenai High School) made 11 saves to pick up the win in net.
