Kevin O'Connell's Record-Tying Day Leads Hudson Valley to Win

Freshman Kevin O'Connell (Schenectady/Colonie High School) tied a school record with six goals in leading the Hudson Valley Community College (6-6-2) ice hockey team to an 8-0 win over the East Coast Rangers on Sunday afternoon.

O'Connell scored the first six goals of the games, including four goals in the first period, tying former Hudson Valley standout Keith Hughes who tallied six goals against Community College of Rhode Island on February 10, 1996.

Freshman Jeff Reinhart (Troy/Lansingburgh High School) and sophomore Jeff Beecher (South Glens Falls/South Glens Falls High School) also scored for Hudson Valley. Freshman Dane Anderson (Newburgh/Newburgh Free Academy) and sophomore Mike Devoid (Berwick, ME/Noble High School) added four and three assists, respectively.

Sophomore goaltender Carmen Guyer (Melrose/Hoosic Valley High School) stooped 18 shots to pick up the shutout in net.

Hudson Valley, which is 4-1-2 in its last seven games, will host Erie Community College at 3 p.m. on Friday, January 13.
