The Hudson Valley Community College (8-5-1/4-5-1 Region III) ice hockey team rallied from a three-goal deficit to earn a 4-4 tie with Monroe Community College (11-5-2/7-1-1 Region III) earlier today in Troy.
Hudson Valley trailed, 4-1, midway through the second period when sophomore Aaron Coopersmith (Souderton, PA/Souderton Area High School) scored on consecutive shifts to cut the Vikings deficit to 4-3 with 14:06 remaining in the period. Freshman Rick Stroup (Troy/Troy High School) assisted on both goals.
The Vikings then tied the game with 2:11 remaining in the second period on an unassisted goal by freshman Chris Gramlich (Philadelphia, PA/Bishop McDevitt High School).
Freshman defenseman Drew Luther (Albany/Guilderland High School) opened the scoring for Hudson Valley in the first period.
Ryan Gaiek (Rochester) and Steve LeDuc (Rochester) each scored two goals for Monroe.
