Hudson Valley Hockey Blanks Erie

Sophomore goalie Bryan McDonald (Ballston Lake/Shenendehowa High School) recorded his third shutout of the season in leading the Hudson Valley Community College (8-3/4-3 Region III) ice hockey team to a 3-0 win over Erie Community College (1-7/1-7 Region III) earlier tonight in Troy.

McDonald stopped 30 shots in the game, including a pair of breakaway chances in the second period, to preserve the victory.

Sophomore Travis Larson (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School) opened the scoring for the Vikings with a goal 2:18 into the game. Hudson Valley went up 2-0 on a goal by sophomore Stephen Barrett (Claverack/Hudson High School). Freshman Jeff Beecher added an empty net goal late in the third period for his team-leading 12th goal of the year.

Hudson Valley will visit SUNY Canton on Saturday, January 15. The game is slated to start at 2:30 p.m.
