The Hudson Valley Community College (6-5-1/2-5-1 Region III) ice hockey team rallied from a two-goal deficit but was unable to hold on as the Vikings fell at SUNY Canton, 4-3, earlier today.
Trailing 2-0 after the opening period, Hudson Valley got goals from freshman forwards Stephen Barrett (Claverack/Hudson High School) and Joe Evers (Albany/LaSalle Institute) to tie the contest at 2-2 entering the third period.
Hudson Valley struck first in the final period on a goal by freshman defenseman Devin Krichbaum (Pattersonville/Sault Area (MI) High School) with 16:29 remaining in the contest.
However, the Northstars tied the game 29 seconds later on Jon Parks' (Canton) second goal of the game. Mike Prego (Skaneateles) then scored on a backhanded shot with 10:30 minutes left to put Canton up for good.
Hudson Valley travels to Lake Placid to take on North Country Community College on Sunday. The game starts at 1 p.m.
