Hudson Valley Community College Head Football Coach, Oji Fagan, was selected to participate in the highly competitive National Football League’s Minority Internship Program. The internship is sponsored by the National Football League (NFL) and is part of the Minority Coaching Fellowship Program, which provides NFL training-camp positions to minority coaches. Each NFL team is granted 1-2 internships each year and receives over 200 applications for each position.

Fagan’s daily job responsibilities with the Giants include assisting the coaches with practices, strategy and planning, and also attend team and coaches meetings each evening. On what he enjoys most about the internship, Fagan said, “I can take my focus off the day-to-day operations of running a football program and on to coaching. I’m amazed at the total commitment the NY Giants organization has made as a whole. Every individual involved with the Giants is working towards a common goal, winning the Super Bowl, and are willing to overcome any adversity to achieve this goal. I can see now why they won the Super Bowl last year.”

Fagan is very grateful for the experience not only on a personal level, but for what he is bringing back to his student-athletes at Hudson Valley Community College. “Learning what goes into a Super Bowl-caliber organization is invaluable to my coaching abilities,” said Fagan. “This has been an incredible experience.”

This will be Fagan’s fourth season with the Hudson Valley football team. Originally from Brooklyn, Fagan received his bachelor’s degree from the University at Albany in 2000. He was a four-year letter winner for the Great Danes.

Hudson Valley Community College offers more than 70 associates degree and certificate programs in four schools: Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences.
