Hudson Valley Community College's football team closed up its preseason camp with its annual scrimmage at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute earlier today. No score was kept in the contest.

"We played much better today than we did a week ago against Milford," said Hudson Valley Head Coach Oji Fagan. "Our offensive line gave the quarterbacks a lot of time today, and our third team defense came in and played real well in the second half."

Hudson Valley's highlights included a 12-yard touchdown on an end around by sophomore wide receiver Rashad Howard (Newport News, VA/Heritage High School), and a 23-yard touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Marcus McLain (Pikeville, MD/Randallstown High School) to sophomore wide receiver Demarcus White (Laurel, MD/Laurel High School).

RPI's lone touchdown was a shovel pass from junior quarterback Frank Catellier (Voorheesville/Voorheesville High School)to sophomore wide receiver Brenan McGowan (Mesa, AZ/Mountain View High School), who took the pass 22 yards for the score.

The Vikings season opener is set 1 p.m. next Sunday, September 4 at Hartwick JV. It will be the first meeting between the two schools.
