With more than 130 players in camp, Hudson Valley Community College's football coaches were able to get a good look at players in game situations in today's scrimmage versus Milford Academy. No score was kept in the scrimmage.

"Today's game gives us a chance to evaluate players early on in camp in game-like situations," said Head Coach Oji Fagan. "We were able to get all of our third and fourth team guys a lot of playing time to show what they can do."

Hudson Valley's lone touchdown of the scrimmage came on a four-yard completion from sophomore quarterback Jon Shanks (Millbrook/Millbrook High School) to sophomore wide receiver Demarcus White (Laurel, MD/Laurel High School).

Milford, which has 16 players on its team that already have offers to Division I-A universities, received an 80-yard touchdown run from Jetavious Best (West Palm Beach, FL) and a 78-yard touchdown reception from Danny Huffor (Marco Island, FL).

Sophomore linebacker John Fuschino (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa High School) had four tackles, including a sack, in limited playing time for the Hudson Valley defense.

Playing without its top two returning running backs – preseason All-American Dane Samuels (New City/Clarkstown High School) and Dontay Wilson (Stamford, CT/Stamford High School) – Hudson Valley received good efforts in the backfield from sophomore Woody Ajuste (Elizabeth, NJ/Elizabeth High School) and freshman Bobby Ransom (Brooklyn/North Florida Christian School).

"I liked the way our young running backs competed today," Fagan said. "They will push Dane and Dontay for playing time this season.

Hudson Valley, which just began practicing in full pads last Tuesday, August 16, will scrimmage at RPI next Saturday, September 27. The season opener is slated for Sunday, September 4 at Hartwick JV.
