The Hudson Valley Community College football team will host Dean Junior College at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 23. This Northeast Football Conference (NFC) matchup will be played at Veteran's Memorial Stadium, which is located on the Hudson Valley campus, directly behind the McDonough Sports Complex. Hudson Valley is 1-2 (0-2 NFC). Dean is 2-0 (0-0 NFC).

Wide receiver Shawn Miller (Troy) and tailback Gary Jones (Ravena) power Hudson Valley's offense. Miller has 11 catches for 335 yards (30.5 yards per catch) and two touchdowns, while Jones has rushed for 248 yards and four touchdowns. He's averaging 5.2 yards per carry.

Linebacker Keith Hill (Schenley, PA) leads the NFC with 30 tackles. Defensive back Derrick Black (Tarboro, NC) has two interceptions. Linebacker Carlos Molina (South Boston, MA) tied Hudson Valley's single-game quarterback sack record last week, recording four sacks against SUNY Morrisville. Jim Brown had four sacks in a 1991 game against Army's JV.

Dean defeated Hudson Valley last year, 24-12.

Hudson Valley's football program was established in 1969. At the time, Hudson Valley was one of only two junior colleges in New York to field a varsity football team. Since then, nearly 300 Hudson Valley football players have earned scholarships to four-year schools and 15 have gone on to play professionally. The Vikings competed in the Coca Cola Bowl in Iowa in 1980. In 1996, Hudson Valley posted an 8-0 record, part of dominant stretch that included 15 straight victories.
