Bowlers Sweep Schenectady Invitational

The Hudson Valley Community College men’s and women’s bowling teams each took top honors in the Schenectady County Community College Invitational on Sunday.

Hudson Valley’s women, ranked No. 2 in the latest NJCAA poll, finished first out of five teams in the event, which included top-ranked Erie Community College and third-ranked Mohawk Valley Community College.

Freshmen Kristen Koenig (Wynantskill/Catholic Central High School) and Madison Spickler (Watervliet/Watervliet High School) teamed up to win the doubles title with a score of 1,698. Spickler finished third in the all-events score with a 1,706.

Hudson Valley’s men, ranked third in the NJCAA poll, finished first out of 11 teams in the event, which included second-ranked Erie and fifth-ranked Mohawk Valley.

Freshmen Steve Caverly (West Sand Lake/Averill Park High School) and Ray Carhart (Ravena/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School) took second and third, respectively, in the singles event.
