Hudson Valley Community College's men's and women's bowling teams competed at the NJCAA national championship tournament on March 7 and 8, which was held at Erie Community College. Hudson Valley's women placed second in the nation among junior colleges; Hudson Valley's men's team placed fifth.

The Lady Vikings tallied 12,110 pins in 21 games, falling just shy of the pace set by host school Erie, the No. 1-ranked junior college in the nation. Hudson Valley's men knocked down 12,550 pins in 21 games. Erie also won the men's competition.

Hudson Valley's Erin Fagan (Columbia H.S.) earned national women's singles champion status by rolling 624 for a three-game series. She was the only female bowler to break 600.

A First Team All-American, Fagan also placed fourth in the all-events competition (188.5 per game), and she teamed up with Bridget Au Claire (Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk H.S.) to capture second place in the doubles title. They bowled a combined 1,089.

Au Claire, who averaged 185.3 per game, earned Second Team All-American status by placing ninth in the all-events competition. Melissa Blair (Columbia H.S.) also was named a Second Team All-American. She finished third in the singles competition (561) and 10th in the all-events competition (182.8 per game).

Dan Ahl (Colonie H.S.) led Hudson Valley's men, placing 14th in the all-events competition.
