2013-14 Team MVP Award Winners

The following Team MVP awards were given at our annual Athletics Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, May 13.

Miguel Arauz- Men's Soccer MVPMiguel Arauz with Head Coach Travis Cooke Men’s Soccer MVP- Miguel Arauz

Miguel was a two-year starter and finished the year with four goals and four assists, starting in all 14 games this past season. His tremendous speed and one-on-one ability made him a tough matchup for any team. Miguel also earned All-Conference this year for the Vikings.

Alexi Anderson- Women's Soccer MVP

Women’s Soccer MVP- Alexi Anderson

Alexi is the first repeat MVP during Head Coach Jay Pokines’ tenure. She was a team captain, and made both All-Region and All-Conference this season. Alexi started every game in her two-year career, and will move on to Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts to play next year.

Josh Northrup- Football MVP
Football MVP- Josh Northrup

Josh is what you look for in a leader both on and off the field. He graded out as the top offensive lineman for the team and will be the top returning player next season. Josh started every game and has the versatility to play multiple positions on the line.

Keisha Cook- Women's Volleyball MVP

Women’s Volleyball MVP- Keisha Cook

Keisha was the teams “go-to” this year, exhibiting a positive and encourage leadership style. She was the first team member to play a different position due to injuries, and the last to leave practice. As a team captain, Keisha played in 21 matches and led the team with 21 service aces.

Eric Pierson- Men's Cross Country MVP

Men’s Cross Country MVP- Eric Pierson

Eric’s best finish came at the conference meet where he finished 19th, with a time of 24:44. He also had very strong performances at the Southern Vermont and SUNY Delhi Invitationals.

Morgan DuBois- Women's Cross Country MVP

Women’s Cross Country MVP- Morgan DuBois

Morgan was also the Team MVP last season, and she improved in all aspects this season. Her best finish came in Regionals at Finger Lakes where she finished second with a time of 20:57. She then went on to Nationals to finish 10th, earning All-American, All-Region and All-Conference honors.

Jenna Brophy- Women's Tennis MVP

Women’s Tennis MVP- Jenna Brophy

Jenna was the teams #1 Singles player and was half of the #1 Doubles team. She finished the regular season undefeated and won a #1 Singles Region Championship. She then went on to capture the school’s first ever #1 Singles National Championship. Jenna earned All-American and All-Conference honors in her historic season.

Dean Smith- Men's Bowling MVP

Men’s Bowling MVP- Dean Smith

Dean helped lead the Vikings to a 20-10 record with a 207 average. He made All-Region, placing 5th overall at the Regional Tournament. Dean has been an Academic All-American the past two seasons, and will attend Alfred State in the fall.

Teagan Pollock- Women's Bowling MVP

Women’s Bowling MVP- Teagan Pollock

Teagan was a tw-year starter and improved her overall bowling average from last year. She was the most consistent bowler on the team this season and always carried a positive attitude. Teagan has been an Academic All-American the past two years and has been accepted into the Radiology Program at Hudson Valley Community College.

David Suski- Men's Basketball MVP

Men’s Basketball MVP- David Suski

David brought maturity, camaraderie and positivity to this season. He improved throughout the year continuously, which was reflected in his statistics. David led the team in rebounds and blocks per game, and also recorded three double-doubles in the second half of the season.

Samantha Tomeck- Women's Basketball MVP

Women’s Basketball MVP- Samantha Tomeck

Samantha has been an integral part of the women’s basketball program for the past two seasons. She started all 23 games this season at both the guard and forward positions. She averaged 14.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Samantha earned All-Conference honors and will continue her academic pursuits with a focus on criminal justice.

Jordan Simpson- Ice Hockey MVP

Ice Hockey MVP- Jordan Simpson

Jordan has been the team’s defensive leader the past two seasons. He played in 13 games this season, recording one goal and seven assists to help earn him All-Region honors.

Joe Toomey- Lacrosse MVP

Without Joe, the team would have been without a goalie. He came in with limited experience and managed to record 124 saves, and had double-digit saves in each game this season.

Kacey Lasch- Women's Golf MVP

Women’s Golf MVP- Kacey Lasch

Kacey took first place at the Genesee Tournament to close out the regular season. She also placed 2nd at Columbia-Greene, where she set a school record of 105, and finished 3rd in the other two matches this season.

Emily Johnson- Softball MVP

Softball MVP- Emily Johnson

Emily finished the year 4th on the team with a .488 batting average. She led the team with 18 RBIs and was 2nd with two homeruns. Emily will attend the College of St. Josephs this fall on a Provider Scholarship.

Franklin Miller- Baseball MVP

Baseball MVP- Franklin Miller

Franklin went 6-0 on the mound this season with a 2.12 ERA. He finished 1st in the Region with 66 strikeouts, which also placed him 6th Nationally. His breakout performance came against Adirondack where he struck out 17 of the 21 batters he faced, earning him Region 3 Athlete of the Week honors.
