Buckley's One-Hitter Lifts Vikings Past Twins and into Post-Season

The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (19-20) defeated Columbia-Greene Community College (18-13) 3-2 on Thursday afternoon.

Dennis Buckley (Christian Brothers Academy/Colonie) pitched a complete game, one-hitter, striking out eight batters and allowing only one earned run in the Vikings' 3-2 victory over Columbia-Greene. With the game tied 1-1 in the fourth inning, Kyle Brisson (Waterford-Halfmoon/Waterford) stepped up to the plate and hit a two-run homerun to give the Vikings a 3-1 lead. Buckley pitched out of trouble in the bottom of the seventh, striking out the last batter with runners on second and third to end the game.

The baseball team advances to the Regional Tournament as a #3 seed, taking on #2 Erie Community College in Buffalo for a best-out-of-three series beginning on Saturday at noon.
