The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team kicked off the 2010 season against Rappahannock Community College in Virginia on Sunday, March 21. The Vikings split the doubleheader, losing the first game, 2-1 and taking the second contest, 9-0.

Alex Sardo (Chatham, Chatham), Viking starting pitcher, gave the performance of the day in the second game hurling a complete game shutout. He had six strikeouts and gave up four hits.

In game one, Aaron Tilley (Troy, Troy) had a tremendous outing, but lacked the run support to get the win as he gave up two runs on four hits. Tilley came out with a 2-1 loss after he went the distance.

Top offensive performers were Dave Balsamo (Shenendehowa, Halfmoon) and Bobby McLoughlin (Bishop Gibbons, Schenectady). Balsamo went four-for-eight on the day and McLoughlin went three-for-five.

During the annual spring trip, today the Vikings travel to North Carolina to play Methodist University.
