Scotia's Nick Borgia Earns All-Region III Honors

Hudson Valley Community College's Nick Borgia
of Scotia was recently selected as a Second Team All-Region III pitcher.
Borgia has a 6-1 record with one save. On May
19, the sophomore right-hander won the opening game of the NJCAA Division
III World Series, which Hudson Valley is currently competing in. Borgia
tossed a complete game against Quinsigamond Community College of Massachusetts,
picking up five strikeouts and leading the Vikings to an 8-4 win – Hudson
Valley's first World Series victory in 19 years.
Borgia has recorded 55 strikeouts in 63 innings
pitched this year. He sports a 2.15 ERA. As a freshman, he was 3-1 with
40 strikeouts and a 1.55 ERA. Borgia came to Hudson Valley from Scotia-Glenville
Hudson Valley Community College, located in Troy,
offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs in four academic divisions;
Business; Engineering and Industrial Technologies; Health Sciences; and
Liberal Arts and Sciences. One of 30 community colleges in the State University
of New York system, Hudson Valley has an enrollment of more than 9,000
students each year, and is known as a leader in distance learning initiatives
and worker retraining.
