Hudson Valley’s Nate Novak Recognized by Region III

Nate Novak (Hudson/Hudson High School), a freshman pitcher/third baseman on the Hudson Valley Community College baseball team, was named the NJCAA Region III Male Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, April 30.

In seven games last week, Novak hit .500 (10-for-20) with two doubles, a home run and 12 RBI. He also was 2-0 on the mound and did not allow a run in 10 innings of work.

For the season, Novak is 8-1 with a 0.96 earned run average. He has struck out 69 batters in 47 innings of work. Novak leads all NJCAA Division III pitchers in ERA and strikeouts per inning. Novak also leads Hudson Valley in hitting with a .393 average (48-for-122). He has 10 doubles, one home run and 34 RBI.

Hudson Valley is 25-16 and will host Herkimer County Community College (29-5) at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 4.
