Jason Martin (Pine Bush H.S.), the catcher for Hudson Valley Community College's baseball team, was recently honored with First Team All-Region III status. Teammate Aaron Marchese (Dennis Yarmouth H.S., MA), a pitcher, garnered Second Team All-Region III honors.

Region III encompasses more than 30 teams from across the Northeast, and Hudson Valley (31-13-3 overall) is ranked No. 2 in the NJCAA Division III Region III tournament, which runs through Sunday in Utica N.Y. The winner advances to the Division III World Series.

Martin, who stands 6-foot-5, is hitting a team-high .416. He also leads the Vikings in at-bats (137), hits (57), runs batted in (40), doubles (11) and home runs (eight).

Marchese, meanwhile, has compiled a flawless 6-0 record on the mound. He also has one save and a team-low 2.50 earned run average. He has struck out a team-high 51 batters in 54 innings pitched.
