Ithaca, N.Y., April 2 – The Vikings improved to .500 with a pair of road wins against Ithaca College today. After capturing both ends of the doubleheader – Hudson Valley Community College's baseball team triumphed by scores of 6-3 and 9-6 – the Vikings are 7-7-1 overall.

In the first game, Hudson Valley, ranked eighth in the nation among NJCAA Division III teams, benefited from a two-run homer by Matt Nobles (Bishop Maginn H.S.). Jason McKinney (South Glens Falls H.S.) tossed five innings to pick up the win while Justin Meagher (Colonie H.S.) earned a save.

Tied at 5-5 after seven innings, the second game went nine innings (each game of a collegiate doubleheader typically lasts seven innings). Both teams scored a run in the eighth inning, but Hudson Valley pounded out three more runs in the top of the ninth frame to claim the victory. Meagher belted a home run and Jay Lansing (Trumansburg H.S.) contributed three singles and three RBI. Jason Martin (Pine Bush H.S.) was the winning pitcher.
